Mashup w/ Create with Connie & Mary!

It's Friday I'm so excited.. I'm sleeping in tomorrow if it kills me.. Ha Ha!!! My kids started Spring Break and we went and saw Mirror Mirror this morning.. What a great movie. It was perfect for kids, and the costumes were amazing!

Time for a new Challenge at the Friday Mashup, this week is our Fan Favorite contest. We are mashing up Kites & Colorful Twine! I haven't had a chance to play along with the challenge at Create with Connie & Mary in while and when I saw this week's color challenge.. it was put at the top of my to do list!

When I saw the Kite (Send me soaring) set in the Occasions Mini it was first on my list.. But sadly I haven't used it until now. It's such a cute set and there are so many things you could do with it.

I started with a Basic Grey card base and then I added a layer of So Saffron and some So Saffron DSP from Pocketful of Posies. Then I took a piece of Pure Poppy and I ran it through the Big Shot with the Houndstooth Embossing Folder to give it some texture. I wrapped some white baker's twine around it and adhered it to the card. For my Focal image I stamped the Kites in the coordinating colors onto some Whisper White and then I cut them out.

I cut a piece of Basic Grey for my focal panel and then a 1/16 smaller piece of Vellum. Working with the Vellum I lined up where I wanted my Kites to go and I stamped the String with Basic Grey onto the Vellum using the Stamp a ma jig . I placed the Kites and a few clouds on top of the Vellum and then I placed a few clouds behind the Vellum and used Glue Dots to adhere the Vellum to the Grey piece. The sentiment is from the same set and I punched it out with the small oval punch (retired) and backed it with another oval in So Saffron. This came out way cuter then I thought it was going to.

Head over to the Friday Mashup blog and see what the rest of the Design Team created this week and if you have a chance do the Create with Connie and Mary challenge these are super fun colors to work with.. Have a great weekend!
