Friday mashup #135.. We're going into Nature!

Friday, Friday!!! Time for a new challenge at the Friday Mashup. Heidi is our hostess this week and she's taking us into Nature with a Woodsy theme. She's asking us to use a "Woodsy" type animal, like a  Deer, turkey, Moose etc. and then Mash it up.. with some woodgrain.

My card is a hot mess.. lol I had so much trouble with the embossing. It just didn't want to come together at all. So, this is what I came up with, not what I originally wanted but it'll do.

( I ventured out in the snow this morning to take a new picture... Gold is hard to photograph. )

I started with a Early Espresso card base and then I took a piece of Early Espresso Core'dnations card stock and ran it through the Big Shot with the Woodgrain Folder and then sanded it. Then I stamped the deer image onto a piece of vellum and heat embossed it in Gold. I added some embossing powder around the vellum piece and the woodgrain piece.

The greeting is from Wetlands and I stamped and embossed it in Gold as well and then I punched it out with the medium oval punch and added some more gold around the edges. This is the only layer that's popped up on dimensionals. I felt it need something on the left side so I added 2 Glitter Brads. This would probably be too much Gold & Sparkle for a guy card but I have a girlfriend who loves to Hunt and this will be perfect for her Birthday!

Head over to the Friday Mashup blog and see what the rest of the Design Team created this week. The Challenge is open until Wednesday at 6pm EST. We hope you can join us!

  1. This is all rustic and fun... I love it! But I have a question .. do you get the christmas deer? I don't understand what a deer head has to do with christmas. No hunters in my family, so maybe that's why I don't get it.

  2. I love how this came out! All that rough gold embossing is gorgeous.
