Friday Mashup.. Beach Birthday!

I'm still cranking out Birthday cards.. each one I make goes right in the mailbox these days. This week at the Friday Mashup our hostess is Lisa and she's asking us to create a project with a Summer theme using the new Stampin' Up! In Colors.. Lost Lagoon, Mossy Meadow & Hello Honey.

I created a fun Beach card.. using Hello Honey & Lost Lagoon as my sky & water on some watercolor paper. I stamped the bird image from Wetlands onto a piece of watercolor paper using some Ranger Archival Ink in the color Potting Soil. Then I created a wash of water across the background.

Using the ink and a Aqua Painter I added a small amount of Hello Honey & Lost Lagoon to the background.. These colors are very dark so you want a light hand. You can always add more later. Once that I was dry I trimmed the panel to the size I wanted. Then I added a piece of Moolight DSP to a Hello Honey card base. And the panel with the birds. For the greeting I stamped the Happy Birthday from the same set onto a piece of Mossy Meadow in VersaMark and embossed it with White embossing powder. I cut it into a small banner and added it with dimensional.

I felt it needed a little something extra but Sequins (my new obsession) wasn't working so I added some White Candy Dots along the Upper right corder and then a star clip from the Basics Hodgepodge Clips. I added a piece of Mossy Meadow 3/8" Stitched Satin ribbon in a knot to the clip as well.

My Sketch is based on the current one at Freshly Made Sketches. Their Linky is open untilMonday @ 12pm PDT.

Head over to the Friday Mashup blog and see what the other Design Team members created and we hope you will join us!! The Linky is open until Wednesday @ 6pm EST.

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Great take on both the challenges, Holly. Love the pipers with the background you watercolor washed.

  2. Love the star clip with the ribbon tied to it. Such a pretty card!
