Pastels for 'Tis the Season w/ Arctic Penguins!

Holy Cow, how is it Saturday already? This week has flown bye and I've been crazy busy.. with no time to do anything. A new color challenge started at 'Tis the Season on Thursday... we're using Pool Party, Pink Pirouette & So Saffron. I love using Non Traditional Color for Christmas.

I'm also entering the "Anything Goes" Challenge at Mama Elephant & Me. When I first saw these Arctic Penguins I was all over it!!! They are just so cute.. and perfect for anytime of the year!

Unfortunately I'm using a cell phone picture I took right after I created this card.. Because when I went outside to take a photo a few days later it had just stopped raining and a gust of wind came along and blew my card into a puddle. Oh how I cried!

I created a sunset background using some distress ink and Pool Party ink from Stampin' Up! Once I had the background on I stamped the ice using Black ink and then I stamped the sentiment from another new set from Mamma Elephant called Jolly & Merry.

Then I stamped the penguins on a separate piece of card stock and added some color with Copics as well as some color to the pieces of ice. Then I fussy cut the penguins and attached them to the ice. I created a white card base and matted the focal piece with a piece of Black card stock and attached it with dimensionals. Once the card was all assembled I added a few sequins from Pretty Pink Posh and I stamped the sentiment from Jolly & Merry onto a banner shape I created with white card stock.

To finish the card off I added some Glossy accents to the ice. So much work went into this card, you can see why it was so sad it was all smeared from the puddle.. Ha Ha

Head over to the 'Tis the Season challenge and see what the other Design Team members created with this fun combo.. The challenge will be open until Tuesday Nov. 4th. The Mama Elephant Challenge is open until Oct. 28th

Thanks for Stopping by!

  1. This is just so pretty! That sunset is gorgeous. Reminds me of rainbow sherbet. I would totally have cried too when this beautiful card blew into a puddle! Maybe you can recreate a similar card and send it to a friend. I know it would make someone's day!

  2. Can't believe you lost this beauty in a puddle, at least we still got to see it with your phone photos, lucky for us! So glad you could join us at Mama Elephant & Me!
