A Mashup with a little Connie & Mary!

This week at the Friday Mashup our Hostess is Heidi and she has created a very unique Challenge.. Create project using a splash of one color with a neutral palette and use your Pencil!

You can use your pencil to shade something, draw something etc. The sky is the limit. I choose the set For the Birds and the Sketch from this week's Create W/ Connie & Mary Challenge. I love this sketch!

I started with a Smoky Slate card base.. Smoky Slate is one of the new colors you will see with the Upcoming 2013-14 SU catalog.. This is a soft cool grey. I cut a second layer and ran it through the Big Shot using the Polka Dot Embossing folder and I adhered it with some dimensionals.

Then I added a layer of Real Red DSP and then I stamped my Birds onto a piece of Whisper White in Smoky Slate. I took the heart image from another stamp in the same set. I colored that in with my Real Red marker. Then I colored the birds in with a pencil.

I added some Real Red Stitched ribbon along the Birds image panel and I adhered them all with More Dimensionals to give lots of height to every layer.

Head over to the Friday Mashup and see what the rest of the Design Team created this week. The challenge is open until Wednesday at 6pm EST.  The Create with Connie & Mary challenge is open until Wednesday at noon EST.

Teacher Appreciation Treats!

I created these earlier in the month for Teacher Appreciation week. I found some cute ideas on Pinterest. I loved the idea of some gift bags with tags attached but they didn't really work for what I wanted, so I created my own.

I found some cute sayings on Pinterest and adapted them into my own idea. Early in the school year I have each of my Child's teachers and Aides a questionnaire to get to know them. It helped so much at Christmas and I was able to personalize things for them better.

I created these tags using MDS and then I printed them out and hand cut them. I really need to figure out how to use my silhouette with MDS, that would of been so much better.

It worked out well I was able to give each Teacher their favorite Candy and Drink. My children also have some Aides in their classrooms they work with so I created a little treat for them as well. I know some will ask for directions on these and I promise I'm working on a video with instructions for you. They were a bit tricky trying to get them the way I wanted in the back.

These are Gum holders and I designed them so they can get to the gum inside without taking it out of the decorative cover yet still replace the pack when it was empty. I think that was the tricky part. At least the measurements was..lol

This was a great project to use up leftover pieces of DSP and other small embellishments.

I have some more projects I'm working on for end of the year.. I snagged these cute tumblers and I'm trying to figure out what to do with them and we picked up a ton of popsicles for the kids so I have to get creative on packaging those as well. Have a great day!!

Sunday Stamps #49.. It's a Color Challenge!

This week at Sunday Stamps our hostess is Hayley and she has created a great Summer Palette of colors!

Here is a sneak peek at an upcoming set in the New Catalog... This is from the hostess set called Simply Sketched.

I started with a Daffodil Delight card base and then I added a layer of Floral District DSP that was  matted onto a piece of Rich Razzleberry. I distress the edges on each layer. I tied some Daffodil Delight ribbon around the Rich Razzleberry piece before I adhered it to the base.

I colored the flower image in with the ink pads and a blender pen.. I really like how this came out it's so pretty in person. I then added the flower image layer on a piece of Lucky Limeade that was distressed as well.

Head over to the Sunday Stamps Blog and see what the other girls created this week and we hope you will play along with us. The Linky will be open until Friday at 6pm EST.

Friday Mashup #110

I have a few post for you today... Up first is this week's Friday Mashup Challenge. I'm the host this week and I created a fun challenge using Baker's Twine and a Monochromatic color scheme.

I needed a Masculine Birthday card so I thought a Brown color palette would be perfect! I had a lot of trouble with this card though. There has to be a secret to using the Core'dinations card stock with the embossing folders. If you've figured it out please let me know.. Mine keep ripping through the paper. I eventually just adjusted my Big Shot sandwich so there was no bottom plate and I just used some card stock as shims. But I wasted a lot trying to figure that out.

I started with a Soft Suede card base and then I added a layer of Early Espresso Core' dinations that I ran through the Big Shot using the Woodgrain folder. Then I lightly sanded the grain. I added some Early Espresso Baker's Twine and a Naturals Designer Button. Before I adhered it to the Soft Suede Layer I punched a 1 3/4" circle in the lower corner.

On the inside of the card I placed the Owl that I created from the Punch and several shades of Brown card stock onto a Soft Suede circle.

I stamped the Happy Birthday from Teeny Tiny Wishes onto a piece of Whisper White punched with the Word window and then I added a second punched with Early Espresso off centered under it. Another Naturals Designer Button and some twine.

Make sure you head over to the Friday Mashup blog and see what the rest of the Design Team created this week.. There is still time to join us, the Linky will close on Wednesday at 6pm EST.

MDS Monday.. We're going Weekly!!

MDS Monday is going Weekly, Whooo Hoo!!! Each sketch will be open for two weeks so you have lots of time to play along. This week is a Card Sketch... MDS is a very versatile program, you can use it for cards, scrap pages, photo-books, calendar and so much more. These sketches are a great jumping off point to start your project.

I created a Christmas Card using the sketch... It was a bit tricky filling in that square area. I so badly wanted to just fill it in with some DSP. Instead I used several Stamp Sets and created a word block.

Head over to the MDS Monday Blog and see what the rest of the Design Team created with this fun sketch.. and we hope you will play along with us.

Friday Mashup #109... It's a Set!

This week at the Friday Mashup our hostess is Amy and she is challenging us to create a matching set of cards using DSP. This is a great challenge to use up some of your DSP and Scraps you may have laying around.. She also provided this great sketch for us to use!

I started with some Floral District DSP. My card base is Tangerine Tango and a layer of Rich Razzleberry. For my image I stamped the flowers from the Perfectly Preserved set in Lucky Limeade and Rose Red onto a piece of Whisper White.

Then I stamped the Jar image onto a piece of Vellum in Staz On Ink and cut it out with the matching Die. I added it over the Flower image with some small dots of Tombo Mono Multi. For the sentiment I stamped the words from Bitty Banners onto some more Whisper White in Rich Razzleberry and then I die cut it with the matching die set. I popped it up with some dimensionals.

These came out very cute!! I was suck for a bit  on what my image was going to be... something I think you can run into when you create your entire project not thinking about the Stamp Set you will use.

Make sure you head over to the Friday Mashup Blog and see what the rest of the Design Team created and we hope you will join in.. As always you can create a project with just the Sketch or just a set of Cards or you can MASH It Up! and create a set using the Sketch!
